Windows 11 stopped all Linux distro hopping. The only Linux desktop that even comes close to ground breaking is Gnome, which basically hasn't changed since it was released. Gnome is also the only Linux desktop that works sorta properly with a touchscreen, if you have that. I can tell you a little secret. I don't care which Linux desktop you use, if you have an 8-10 year old laptop or shitty video card and poor monitor, everything is gone suck!

Next time, think about what your viewer is seeing before you create the video and post it. If the developers think AI is cool, they will put it in. We need to let them know it needs to be kept out of the OS. Make it an app that those who want can install it and those who don't can refuse it.

If someone wants to play around with some pseudo/so-called AI then knock yourself out, but it should be firewalled , sandboxed, and un-integrated because at present these softwares are outputting results which are both unreliable and censored. You are turning over control of your personal systems to whoever did the (proprietary) programming, and apparently even they can't reliably predict outcomes. I'm finally in the process of switching to Linux myself after watching the evolution for years. I'm still on Windows7 currently because it has suited my tastes and purposes better than anything Msoft has put out lately, but even with Win7 it's a struggle to have control. Msoft has been getting more and more locked down ever since Win98 came out and I've had enough. I just hope people will have the sense to preserve Linux as an option to all the corporate BS.

It's pretry hilarous some Linux users pray the freedom but when another Linux user wants to do whatever against their believes they complain like this. If you don't like it, don't use it. It's the power of freedom to let people do whatever they want and just do your own thing.

I'm happy to say, after a bit of a learning journey, I have divorced Microsoft. My office PC and my Gaming PC are running Linux mint. So I no longer have a 'careface' about windows. I'm not concerned about hardware either, the refurbished market is swimming with top notch machines for laptops and I custom build my own desktops. 'Feelsbad' for the average consumer though.

I have now moved from Windows 11 to Garuda XFCE completely. It took me about 2 hours. i9 13900K, Nvidia 4090, and 3 monitors JUST WORKED. This isn't only the best Linux experience I have ever had, it is better than I though Linux COULD BE. Run, don't walk. Install a Garuda flavor and don't look back. It will be the best decision you made in a long time about your desktop computing life.

Hey, for someone like you who doesn't understand anything at all, and it's kind of stupid, I don't have use of my hands. So anything that will allow me to use something like Gimp with an AI so I can actually use it will be helpful. I am very disabled and if you don't understand, some of us have to use our voice only. To be fair, the "deep state" has taken over quite a few Linux applications as well. It strikes me that Ubuntu is full of "Windows like" applications and offerings. I began to miss Manjaro Plasma, which I soon swapped for Ubuntu. But I'll go back to Arch again! Freedom at Arch is still intact. We all know that they are so stupid that they can't come up with anything, but at the expense of this, they take advantage of the naivety of programmers to throw their tentacles over "open society" Now, I doubt every single application. Postscript! I hate OpenAI, Microsoft, Google, Amazon....etc. But they are so embedded in every aspect related to the IT sector that I don't see how we can get rid of them. Which reminds me: If anyone has any ideas how to prevent Google (fundinfchoicesmessages, gstatic....googleAPI, etc.) from connecting to my NextCloud because of the hideous Android please share! And although I might get al lot of hate too: Systemd is the exact same problem on Linux-Platforms today! They copied the bad things to just compete in shorter Boot-times! Systemd on Linux is as horrible as Windows.

"Hate" isn't the right word to use here :( Microsoft did a lot of bad things and still is doing so. But I don't like to hate anything.

Although a different topic, I had a similar thing happen happen when I posted a comment on another channel. The content creator was raving about Fedora Linux being used for gaming. I posted that it was good and that it was available for download by the GENERAL PUBLIC but it's also based on the original distro Redhat which is not free and for commercial corp clients. He responded "What are you talking about? Fedora most certainly is free - you don't know what you're talking about"

I did a live install of Garuda Dragonized gaming edition on a 16gb usb thumb drive and I can't get the sound working on my laptop speaker, can you please help me. My laptop is a Panasonic toughbook CF-19ZA813DM with 16gb of ram and a 1tb Samsung 850 pro sata ssd. Also do you know of any good offline GPS software and how I can play Oblivion and Skyrim offline

Aw man I already installed mint on my old ass laptop... I can't use it on my gaming rig cause of VR gaming but I use it on my laptop to get it running smoothly again for simple tasks on the go like web browsing, media consumption, and office apps.

Just so you know the problems with windows can be solved with a few one click tools and activating it for free using MAS script which is far easier than switching to linux. I tried switching to linux and it actually had worse hardware compatibility (nvidia gpu doesnt play nice) and not to mention I couldn't get my VR up and running. Then I found out about tools like winaero tweaker, oosu10, w10privacy, and windows debloater tool and I went back immediately to my windows 10 installation and never looked back again. My installation is now quite lightweight and minimalist, the start menu now only has the search and list of programs, no live tiles, no ads, etc. No ads on the login page, just a password text box. No telemetry running in the background (task manager shows ZERO network usage now when idle and not using anything else on the network). It barely consumes 2gb of RAM on idle now too. No cortana, no copilot, no unnecessary bloat apps, none of it. And this was achieved by simply clicking a few buttons in programs made by amazing people who keep windows viable for those of us who don't like the BS microshit is pulling. And funny enough I replaced the bloated stock MS apps with open source ones, FOSS and proprietary can play nice together. Replaced windows mail with thunderbird, edge with librewolf, plus I've always used OBS and GIMP which are open source. I've got nothing against linux, it just doesn't work for my use case and I'm tired of hardcore linux fans trying to convert us by hyping up all the bad stuff about windows that you *can fix easier than switching to linux* and then going on to say "RTFM" when we need help. Linux will never get past fuckall market share if the community doesn't improve. And this is coming from me who *does* use linux mint on my old laptop because it *DOES* work with no hassle for my use case (web browsing and media consumption).

About your insistence on using the terminal and that newbies should learn it, not everyone wants to do that. I think we'd see more linux adoption if these channels would just show us the GUI option instead, *especially* when they're reviewing a specific distro. At the very least show us which GUI to go into since you said you can use it as well.

POV: Stuck up linux turbo nerd rags on Linus for making content that appeals to his target audience. The only people who seem to have an issue with this series are the most elitist linux nerds... This series whole purpose was to approach linux as a beginner would, *NOT* with his prior technical knowledge. The part where he bricked his pop installation isn't entirely his fault since it's a bug. A newbie linux user shouldn't even have to resort to the terminal to install something that can be found on the GUI package installer in the first place. Looking from the perspective of user friendliness and intuitive design, this is a failure of the linux distro. Average newbie is gonna skim over all that jargon and just read the bottom part that tells you how to proceed. Linux being "the best" isn't a fact. That's just _your_ opinion. Best is an opinion and is subjective and will vary based on use case. I tried gaming on linux and had a terrible experience. My VR headset was one of the biggest issues and I never did figure it out so I went back to my tweaked windows 10 installation. Linux nerds seem to forget you _can_ tweak windows with simple 1 or 2 click tools to get rid of all the crap MS puts in it. And no, I'm not a linux hater either. I run mint on my really old laptop to get it running smoothly again for web browsing and media consumption and it works well for that purpose. It's all down to use case and willingness to learn and how much time you have to even deal with it in the first place.

Dear eBuzz! I have sometimes a problem, Nautilus does not show me all my disks in "Other Locations" instead I have many times numbers of disks to the left side and many disks are gone. I am forced to use Dolphin instead, to view all my disks, not a happy solution, then I used autoremove command then Nautilus back to normal. How to prevent such problems in the future without using autoremove commands?

its been a good distro for me, the only thing as its only one maintainer sometimes fixes can take a bit longer, but its been fine with backups.
